New Years Resolution Update
Last year I made a list of several things that I wanted to accomplish by 2009. Here is the update:
1. Back shit up. Due to both of my computers crashing this year, I have lost every item I have ever wanted to save on my harddrives. This hanukkah, my mother bought me an external harddrive. I plan on using it. This I did, and I still do!
2. Dance. Have you ever wanted to make a fool of yourself while drunk? Probably not, but I want to. I plan on learning several different dance routines, i.e. Thriller, Bye Bye Bye, some sort of Saturday Night Fever shit. If I accomplish this and you're at a bar/party with me make sure you play one of the songs. You'll get a good laugh, and maybe learn a few dance moves. I've learned some Brady Bunch moves, and a few steps of Thriller. I still need a full routine.
3. Travel. I have one trip planned for New York in the fall, but that's not enough. No sir, I want to eventually make it to the west coast, since the furthest I have ever been was Vegas. This will happen. I've gone on 2 road trips one to Florida with a stop in Nashville and another to NYC. I really haven't had money to do any elaborate traveling. At least I made it to a few places I've never been before!
4. Explore. By next fall I will have lived in Chicago for 2 1/2 years. A half a year in 2004 and 2 years consecutively as of September. I have only explored downtown (due to living there), a day in Wicker Park, Lakeview (where I live now), and parts of Andersonville (because of work, but I'm only there for a good 5 hours at a time.. and in the store.) I know there's more to Chicago than that. I want to know everything that there is to do in Chicago by the end of next year. You should tag along. Ok, Ok, I really sucked at this. But I did make it to the west side! It's ghetto and I thought I was going to die. I swear I'll work on this.
5. Figure out my life. Hopefully I only have no more than 2 years left of school (shhh I like to take my time.) I want to eventually figure out exactly what I'll be taking each semester and hopefully have an idea of what I can do with my life once I graduate. WOOO!! I have all of my semesters left planned out. I even went and talked to the chair of my non-existant department today and we figured everything out with an expectated graduation date of December '09!!! I think I have even decided to continue with school and try and get my masters. We'll see.
6. Actually start doing my work on time. It's finals time and because I didn't do any of my work when I could have, I'm behind. Not just behind, but so behind I might not get all my shit done in time, which means I'll fail these classes. So instead of working on my papers that are due, I'm writing this. I know, I know... I should be working on my paper that was due 2 weeks ago, but I really hate it. Anyways, I'm going to start doing all my homework in advance so I can relax near the end of the semester and not freak out like I am right now. I've done all my work on time so far and I'm trying to get 2 papers done a week before they are due. I don't like it.
7. Rekindle old flames. Ok, not really flames, but I want to be more outgoing with my friends. I miss them. I've been the girl that works way to much and never has time to do anything. That person is BORING. I'm going to schedule time in for my friends. After all, they are my family in Chicago... and in Michigan. I've worked on this and I'm pretty sure I have only half way acomplished this. I don't really know how you measure seeing friends but I have gone out of my way to schedule time with certain people.
8. Read. I have a stack of books that I've been dying to read. On my breaks from school I will tackle them little by little. I have read a few books but not nearly enough as what I wanted to. There is still Christmas break which I plan on reading at least 3 while I'm visiting my parents.
9. Quit smoking. This one is mostly bullshit, but we'll see how it goes. Hahaha.
